The SpeechLive web recorder enables you to record dictations in a browser window.

The dictation functions can be controlled with the corresponding buttons on the SpeechMike or on a SpeechOne remote control. More information on how to work with a SpeechMike or a SpeechOne can be found in the Working with dictation hardware section.

When opening the web recorder the first time, you will be asked to allow the access of the SpeechLive web recorder to your microphone:

  • Click on Allow to continue.

If you do not allow the access to the microphone the SpeechLive web recorder will not be opened.

Workflow options

Description

Finish-dictation_icon.png

Finish: Saves the dictation file and it's dictation properties in the corresponding folder of the author.

save_as_draft.png

Save as draft: Save your dictation as draft and continue working on it later.

Close-dictation_icon.png

Close: Closes the recorder.

Insert/Overwrite/Append: Defines the current dictation mode.

Player settings: Opens the playback settings pop-up window which enable you to change the Playback speed, the Winding speed, and the Auto-backspace setting

Other Recorder elements

Description

Position slider

Provides graphic indication about the current position in the dictation. The position slider can be dragged with the mouse.

Current position/Remaining time

The current position display is placed on the left side of the dictation buttons. It displays the current position in the dictation in HH:MM:SS.

The display of the current position can be switched to the display of the remaining time. Click on the Current Position display to switch the display to Remaining time. The remaining time is then displayed as a negative value.

Click on the Remaining Time display to return to the Current Position display.

Total length

The total length display is placed on the right side of the dictation buttons. It displays the total length of the dictation in HH:MM:SS.

Record volume meter

Is placed inline with the position slider indicator. Provides a colored indication about the recording volume

File format

  • The SpeechLive web recorder creates 16kHZ-16bit mono PCM wav files.

  • For maximum system agility we recommend to not exceed a maximum file length of 1 hour.

  • Longer files might lead to some latency effects.
