Download the SpeechLive Desktop App on your computer.
Note The SpeechLive Desktop App is only available for Windows 10 (64-bit) and Windows 11 (64-bit).
The SpeechLive Desktop App can also be installed in virtual environments. The installation guide for virtual environments covers this in more detail.
Start the downloaded installation file and follow the installation process.
Start the SpeechLive Desktop App from the Windows start menu.
Enter your SpeechLive credentials to sign in.
Note Use the Stay signed in option so you don't have to re-enter your credentials later.
Access and change the Settings of the SpeechLive Desktop App.
Press the speech recognition button
to start the speech recognition. Fore more information, see Use the SpeechLive Desktop App.
Note This function is only available for authors.
Status field: Displays the recognized words. However, this shows you only the status of the current recognition process. The results are further improved before you see the final text in your document / text field.
The status field also shows you the status of the current dictation upload.
Click
to manually upload dictations to SpeechLive, see Upload dictations to SpeechLive for more information.
Click to close the SpeechLive Desktop App.
Click to minimize the application.
Here you can access the User settings.
Click on the settings button to change the settings of the SpeechLive Desktop App.

The following settings are available for authors:
Microphone: Change the microphone you're using for the application.
Voice recognition language: Change the language recognized by the application.
Voice commands: View a list of all available voice commands. The SpeechLive Desktop App uses the same voice commands as SpeechLive.
Auto-correction at cursor: Change how the app shows you the results of the speech recognition before inserting text.
Always on top: Keep the app always on top, even when you switch to other applications.
Minimize to tray: Activate to keep the SpeechLive Desktop App running in the background when minimized.
This setting is useful to keep the app running and plug in devices for automatic dictation upload. If this option is activated, you can only close the app by right clicking on the icon in the notification area and choose Exit.
Upload from device/folder: Here you can change different settings regarding the dictation upload functionality of the SpeechLive Desktop App, see Upload dictations to SpeechLive for more information.
Log level: Change the log level of the app, this setting is only relevant in support cases.
Online help: Opens the online help.

The following settings are available for transcriptionists / typists:
Always on top: Keep the app always on top, even when you switch to other applications.
Minimize to tray: Activate to keep the SpeechLive Desktop App running in the background when minimized.
This setting is useful to keep the app running and plug in devices for automatic dictation upload. If this option is activated, you can only close the app by right clicking on the icon in the notification area and choose Exit.
Default author for uploads: Select the author that automatically receives all manually or automatically uploaded dictations.

The SpeechLive Desktop App converts your voice to text in real-time: Use a microphone, place the cursor in any text field or document and start dictating.

Click on the speech recognition button
to start the speech recognition.
You can also use the + key on the numeric keypad section of your keyboard to start the speech recognition.
You can also use your Philips dictation hardware to start the speech recognition, e.g. the record key of your SpeechMike.
Click on the desired text field or document where you need the text.
Start dictating.
X Your voice will be recognized, converted to text and automatically pasted into the text field or document.
Note Make sure to place the cursor in the desired text field or document.
During an active speech recognition, the main window shows the status of the voice recognition in the status field next to the speech recognition button. The speech recognition button additionally shows you a different symbol
to inform you about an active speech recognition.
The text will be pasted into the desired text field or document. Neither audio or the text is saved to SpeechLive.
To stop the speech recognition, click on the speech recognition button
.
Note After stopping the speech recognition, the SpeechLive Desktop App might need some time to process your last words. This is indicated by a different symbol
on the speech recognition button. Do not click on a different window or move the cursor during this process, to not lose the progress of your last recognition.
You can upload dictations from your computer or connected dictation devices to SpeechLive using the SpeechLive Desktop App.

Select which typist / team the dictation should be assigned to and click Upload.
Note If you choose the Remember selection option, you don’t have to select the typist / team the next time you upload a dictation. To change this selection later, go to the settings
of the app and choose Upload from device/folder > Preferred typist or team.
Choose the files on your computer or from a connected device and click Upload.
X The status of the upload will be shown in the Status field of the app and you will also receive a notification that the upload has started.
X Once the upload is completed you will receive another notification with a summary of the upload in the notification area of your computer.

Note The automatic upload is supported for Philips PocketMemo DPM8000, DPM7000, DPM6000, Olympus DS-9500, DS-9000, DS-7000 and DS-5000.
When using automatic uploading from Olympus devices, make sure to set the USB Class of the device to Composite. Automatic upload from Olympus devices always works from the SD card of the devices. Micro SD cards only work if it’s the only SD card inserted to the device, other combinations are not supported.
Select which typist / team the dictation should be assigned to and click Upload.

Authors are able to define a folder on their computer from which the SpeechLive Desktop App automatically uploads new dictations to SpeechLive.
Go to the Settings
of the app, here you can choose Upload from device/folder and activate the Automatic upload setting.
Caution You can also choose Delete after upload, this will delete the dictations after the upload is finished.
Note Activate Minimize to tray to keep the app running in the background. As soon as you connect a device, the automatic upload will start (when activated).
Go to the Settings
of the app, choose Upload from device/folder and click Select folder. Now you can choose the folder from which you want to automatically upload new dictations.
Place your dictations in the folder you selected in the last step.
Select which typist / team the dictation should be assigned to and click Upload.
Note If you choose the Remember selection option, you don’t have to select the typist / team the next time you upload a dictation. To change this selection later, go to the settings
of the app and choose Upload from device/folder > Preferred typist or team.

You can use your dictation hardware to control the SpeechLive Desktop App.

Make sure to use your devices (SpeechMike, SpeechOne) in Event Mode. This is the default out-of-the-box button mode, however if you changed the button mode of your device you can find more information in the Switch to Event mode section on how to switch it back. |
