After setting up a foot control (see Set up your dictation hardware for more details), you can use the pedals of your foot control to control SpeechLive.
Typists can use a foot control to play/pause dictations or rewind whilst SpeechLive is running in the background to type up dictations in a word processor
Authors can use a foot control to start/stop recording, enabling a hands-free recording environment when combined with a headset microphone like the SpeechOne
To check your current pedal configuration:
In the Dictations tab, click on the hardware button
.Click on the settings icon
.Depending on your device you may need to select your foot control model first. You can find the model number at the bottom of your foot control.
The drop-down selector corresponds with the pedals of your foot control, indicating which function is currently assigned.
Stop
Press the pedal to stop playback .
Play/Pause
Press the pedal once to play back the dictation and again to pause it.
Record/Pause
Press the pedal once to start recording and again to pause recording (only available for authors).
Finish
Finish your dictation (only available for authors).
Rewind
Press (or hold) the pedal to jump back in the dictation.
Adjust the winding speed
in the web player, if you want to change the amount of seconds you jump back / forward.Forward
Press (or hold) the pedal to jump forward in the dictation.
Adjust the winding speed
in the web player, if you want to change the amount of seconds you jump back / forward.Disabled
Use this option to disable this pedal of your foot control.
You can also change the pedal configuration by selecting a different option in the drop-down selector and confirm by clicking Save.
