Speech recognition

Speech recognition allows you to dictate into your phone and your voice is recognized in real time and converted to text. You can then either copy the text and use it in other applications or depending on your workflow settings either share it with SpeechLive or send it to a typist for additional proofreading.

  1. Start the SpeechLive Mobile App.

  2. Tap on the speech recognition new_speech_recognition_icon.png button in the lower right corner.

    [Note]Note

    • This option is only available if speech recognition is activated for your account. Please contact your account administrator if this option is missing.

    • You can also deactivate this option in the Settings of the app (turn off Enable speech recognition features on this device).

    • Speech recognition is not available if you're signed in via SpeechExec Enterprise.

    • Real-time speech recognition is not available if Dragon speech recognition is activated for your user.

  3. Tap on the Record speechlive_app_icon-record.png button to start speech recognition.

  4. Please allow the app access to the microphone of your device to continue.

    [Note]Note

    • Microphone access is necessary so the SpeechLive Mobile App can record your voice.

    • If you declined the access, you can change this setting manually:

      1. Go to the settings of your device:

        • iOS: Choose SpeechLive in the list.

        • Android: Select the Apps section of the settings and choose SpeechLive in the list.

      2. Allow the app the necessary permissions:

        • iOS: Choose Microphone and activate the switch iOS_icon-activate-switch.png to allow the SpeechLive Mobile App access to your microphone.

        • Android: Select Permissions, choose Microphone and activate the switch iOS_icon-activate-switch.png to allow the SpeechLive Mobile App access to your microphone.

  5. Start dictating.

    X Your voice will be recognized, converted to text and displayed on the screen.

    • You can use voice commands, e.g. to insert special characters or line breaks. Tap on the slmobile_voice-commands-icon.png button to display all available voice commands. You can continue dictating whilst displaying the voice commands.

    • Tap slmobile_copy-to-clipboard-icon.png to copy the text to the clipboard and paste it to other apps.

    • Tap on Properties at the bottom of the screen to open the dictation properties.

    • Tap on the slmobile_select-sst-language-icon.png icon to change the language of the speech recognition.

    • You can tap on the screen to manually change the text.

    • Tap the Pause speechlive_app_icon-pause.png button to pause the current speech recognition.

  6. After you're finished:

    • Tap send_to_button.png to save and close your dictation.

      X Your dictation and the transcript is saved and automatically synchronized with SpeechLive. The dictation is moved to the Finished tab of the app.

      [Note]Note

      • If Correction pending is activated in SpeechLive web, you can choose which typist or team should receive the dictation for correction. In this case your dictation is moved to the Sent tab of the app. You can change your preferred typist or team in the settings of the app.

    • Tap share_icon.png to share your dictation e.g. via email, next select the desired email application.

    • Tap speechlive_app_icon-delete.png to delete your current dictation and exit speech recognition.
